Records Management in San Bernardino County Court
Traffic court issues in a different state?
Question by mrsbygtigger: Traffic court issues in a different state?
I was pulled over in California for having tinted windows. I was issued a fine and a fix-it ticket. I paid the fine, but the fix-it deadline was after I moved out of state. My car is also out of state, everything is out of state lol. They returned my proof of moving (lease agreement) and my payment back to me, stating that I have to show them my proof of fix-it…. I can’t.. I’m not there and neither is my car. If I can’t furnish proof that I fixed it, then my fee will go from $ 25 to $ 180 and probably some other crap on my record. The LA superior court has no phone numbers to contact a LIVE person… sounds strange, but it is true. Everything is automated with no option for ‘operator.’ Most would say to write a letter explaining that I moved, which they clearly ignored… What the heck should I do?
Oh yeah, I am going back to Cali next month (without my car). I think I will go to the courthouse and let them know the deal…. with that said, I hope they don’t ask for proof of fix-it which is clearly impossible to furnish given the circumstances.

Perhaps the local police department where you live now will provide a vehicle safety inspection. You could use that when you return to California to prove that your vehicle is once again legal to drive on public roads.
