What info. is in adoption records?
I just petitioned the court to "unseal" my adoption records. I was in foster care from birth and placed with my adoptive parents at 4 months in 1976. It was through the State of Texas in the Dallas County Juvenile Court. They said it will be about a week or so before the judge’s decision and then I will be notified and they will be sent to me. If they are "unsealed" what will the record contain?

I am also from Texas and am adopted myself. Most likely they are sealed, most of them were.. Texas is very strict. I have mine and it say’s what my real name was (first only), time i was born and that’s basically it.
Good luck with your journey…
Mine contained:
1. original birth certificate (which I couldn’t see)
2. social worker’s report from interview with bparents before my birth
3. relinquishment papers signed by bparents (which I couldn’t see)
4. amended birth certificate (always had that anyway)
5. adoption papers signed by my aparents (which I couldn’t see and my aparents always denied existed)
don’t bet on it being unsealed unless you have a terminal illness. and even then, the court couldn’t care less.
WELL IT DEPENDS BUT IT COULD CONTAIN THE MONTH YOU WERE ADOPTED,DAY AND YEAR YOU WERE, BUT NOT WHO YOUR PARENT OR PARENTS ARE…I CAN GIVE YOU A REFERENCE TO FIND OUT MORE AND OTHER THINGS ALSO.

Hey, my daughter found me, on the internet, she went to adoption.com typed in her birth date.
Hello Metro,
To complete an adoption, in NJ, a consent is prepared. Some information that is collected include a 20 page medical which includes birth history provided by birth mom and dad (if available) and history on the child’s birth/milestones/development. There are two other important parts, a Part A and Part B. The part A lists the child’s information ie. social security number, DOB, as well as birth mother, father and any siblings from mom and dad. The Part B is a child summary explaining the child’s families circumstances for the adoption. The child’s birth records are also collected for the consent. A final court report is also completed that briefly summarizes the events leading up to the adoption.
In NJ we have an Adoption Registry that is staffed by the Division of Youth and Family Services, maybe your state also has this if you was adopted through them. With the registry, upon your 18th birthday, if your birth parents kept the Division apprised of thier locations this information will be released to you to find your birth family. If interested contact your child protective services and ask to speak to the adoption unit.
Good luck and best wishes!
